You could spend an entire lifetime in British Columbia and still not see it all. This becomes more apparent to me each time I set off to discover a new part of the province. My most recent journey took me to Bella Coola, a remote village nestled in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest at the head of a long fjord on the central coast. With just over 2,000 residents, this small community has a rich history, originally home to the Nuxalk Nation for thousands of years. In the late 19th century, Norwegian settlers arrived, creating a blend of Indigenous and European influences that still shape the village today. Tourists are drawn to Bella Coola for its breathtaking wilderness, including pristine rivers and towering mountains.
