Crystal's Epic Adventures

Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a huge metropolis where modern skyscrapers, high-tech subways and pop culture meet Buddhist temples, palaces and street markets. I really noticed this stark contrast during my 12 hours here.  During my initial trip planning research I discovered that by choosing a cheaper flight with an extended layover, some airports will allow you to leave on a special day visa to explore, and of course spend your money.  When booking my flight home from Chiang Mai, I found a flight with a 12-hour layover in South Korea.  The flight from Chiang Mai to Seoul is only five hours, so with the time difference I arrived at 6:30 am, while it was still dark.   South Korea's Incheon Airport offers free Transit Tours for passengers with layovers of four hours or more.  I saw this as a fantastic chance to break up the monotony of air travel and an excellent opportunity to immerse myself in the vibrant Korean culture, even if it was only fo...

Chiang Rai is situated in the infamous Golden Triangle region, where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge.  The city is steeped in rich history and magnificent natural beauty. This captivating destination is often overshadowed by its neighbour, Chiang Mai, but it certainly holds its own when it comes to offering unique experiences. Chiang Rai is certainly more my style and I really enjoyed my time here! Had I known just how much, I would have rearranged my schedule to include at least another day or two. You could easily spend a week here.  Located three hours north from Chiang Mai, I caught a bus bright and early in the morning and once I arrived made my way to my hotel.
