The Surin Islands - Nov 16 to 18, 2023

Koh Surin National Marine Park rates as one of Thailand's top 10 prime island locations for snorkeling. The Surin Islands as they are most widely known, was one of the main reasons for coming to this area of Thailand. This particular group islands are less visited than the more popular Similan Islands and holds some of the most breathtaking, diverse and healthy coral and I was totally blown away by the huge variety of fish. I even found Nemo (as well as his nemesis, "Gill") which was so exciting! The area is designated as a National Park with preservation and conservation as the main goals. To avoid the effect of mass tourism, the islands are only open for six months out of the year; and closed for the other half of the year both because of monsoon season and to prevent the overexploitation of the islands' unique ecological balance.
