Africa here we come!

Image
Anyone who has been on the phone or within 3 feet of me in the last few months knows that we are heading to Africa on a trip of a lifetime.  When I say anyone, I mean anyone who will listen to me for five minutes... not just my family, friends and co-workers but the bank teller, the store clerk at London Drugs, and the lady sitting next to me on the train.  To say I am excited is the biggest understatement. I have been planning this trip since we got home from Peru in 2019 . Today is the day we leave!  It is going to be a grueling 29 hours in travel time to get there, but we will enjoy 19 full days of amazing adventures in Uganda, Tanzania and the island of Zanzibar before heading home.   This trip is jammed packed with adventure in the usual Crystal-style with something new to see everyday (poor Klaus).  Some highlights will be Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park  on Tuesday and Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park ...

High Falls Creek - July 2, 2022

Squamish Valley and Tantalus Range High Falls Creek is a steep, box canyon roughly 26km up the Squamish Valley Road that empties into the Squamish River. With a stunning waterfall and several gorgeous views of the Squamish Valley and Tantalus Range, High Falls Creek trail is one of the most scenic hikes in the area.  Some of you may recall just two weeks ago to the day, this was the state Klaus was in.   Given that we are a month away from flying to Africa, this sets both of our remaining post-pandemic nerves on edge. However, with some pretty heavy IV, pain meds and muscle relaxers, he was able to walk himself out of the hospital a few hours later.  With a week sitting on the sofa watching TV, he was back to work the following Monday.  One of the biggest draws to our upcoming trip is to hike the Virunga Mountains in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to see the Mountain Gorillas .  If Klaus can't hike, he can't go see the Gorillas....
