C250 Adventure Challenge - November Update

November has been a very quiet month for my challenge year.  As you know I had a pretty major surgery October 20th, so I have been taking the time to heal.  It is not easy to lay around and do nothing!  Even in my state, my C250 Adventure Challenge was never far from my mind.  Here are a few updates:  November 5th  Even while recovering, I managed to complete the 12-week Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from the Faculty of Native Studies, Indigenous Canada .  This course was incredibly informative and life changing for me. I finally learned at 50 years old the ACTUAL history of our country which is not taught in our public school system - that needs to change. I also learned that 150+ years later we have such a long ways to go in our endeavour to understand and truly honour the incredibly knowledgeable First People; the true caretakers of this land.  November 11th is of course the day we remember and honour those who gave their lives for our fre...

C250 Adventure Challenge - October Update

Can you believe it?  November is already here and I can barely recall finishing September, life this past month has been such a blur.  This month has been my most emotionally and physically challenging month yet.  When I had written my last C250AC update, I had just gotten back from my incredible three-day adventure to Galiano Island .  If you have never been, I highly recommend it! I loved the foraging class Klaus and I took so much back in June, I have now taken a second class with the same company this past October 3rd on Wild Mushroom identification. This class was set up to replace the covid-cancelled C250AC #47 - Amtrak train ride to Seattle. The impressively knowledgeable facilitator, focused on showing us how to safely identify wild mushrooms like porcini, chanterelle, honey and wild oysters while on a guided 2-hour easy walking trip through the protected forest of the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve.  He also helped us to identify whatever we found d...
