C250 Adventure Challenge - #40 Dog Sledding

Revelstoke, BC As I mentioned in my March C250 Adventure Challenge update, I had to remove and shelve the trip to Antelope Canyon for another time, and replaced it with a new adventure.  Klaus and I headed off to Revelstoke, BC this past weekend to complete #40 C250 Adventure Challenge - Dog Sledding with Revelstoke Dogsled Adventures . Dog sledding is a very iconic, historical form of transportation moving goods and people around in Canada. However, with the coverage of poor business practices and the growth of pro-animal groups, the industry in Canada has taken a hard hit. During the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver all outdoor industry was booming, including dog sledding. Visitors all over the world wanted to experience the Canadian wilderness. One business owner outside of Whistler, BC went a little bonkers after the Olympics were over due to the significant drop in business. I mean, wouldn't a drop in business be expected? C250 Adventure Challenge - February Update

Mount Seymour As predicted, ‘things’ did in fact slow down a little as the month progressed and Challenges were scheduled.  I do still have quite a few things left to research, decide on and schedule.  Good thing I still have 10 months left of the C250AC! As you will see, I have been continuing to maintain my spreadsheet with lots of information as I go along.  You can check it out here for more detailed updates on each item of the list in the comments. #13 Take a class to learn something totally new This challenge was completed February 8 & 9 as I attended a two-day Avalanche Skills Training - Level 1 (AST-1) course with Canada West Mountain School .  The AST-1 format included 7 hours of theory in a classroom setting and 10 hours of practical fieldwork on Mount Seymour.  The classroom theory was super interesting learning about  avalanche hazard recognition, mountain weather, snowpack structure, basic terrain evaluation and ...
