Solo Adventure 2025: Chasing Tidal Raves and Glowing Bays

There’s something magic about hopping on a ferry, suitcase in hand, and trusting that serendipity—plus a detailed Hipcamp review—will deliver the adventure you crave. This year’s 4th annual solo odyssey took me from Port Moody through ancient fjords, over neon tides, and finally into the dark—hoping to see the sea light up beneath my kayak paddle. Spoiler: I found more than I bargained for. Day 1: Skookumchuck Narrows and Chatterbox Falls I rolled out of Port Moody at dawn and pointed the car west, arriving at Egmont just in time to check into a hand-built cabin tucked into the forest. Inside, a plaid blanket and a charming chandelier light set the tone for a cozy stay. The comfy bed, bedside table, fan, small table and chair, and mini-fridge made it feel like a true retreat. Outside, the property was home to a hobby farm with two miniature horses—Willow and Spartacus—and a lively crew of birds including Walter the goose.
